Is Your Resume In a Summer Slump?

Does your resume put you to sleep?  Have you read it and re-read it so many times that you have memorized your 'action' words and they no longer contain any action?  Chances are that others feel the same way about your resume and it may be time to "shake it up, pull it apart and add some zing!"

Beth Braccio Hering, in her research of job strategies for CareerBuilder, has identified some overused words and offers suggestions that will make managers take notice and add some sparkle to this most important document.

Say good bye to the following:
Outstanding  s   Effective  s Strong  s Exceptional s Good
Excellent s Driven s  Motivated s Seasoned s Energetic
and replace them with words and phrases that indicate action, thought and energy!
Created s Increased  sReduced s Improved s Developed  s Researched
Accomplished s Won on time s Under Budget

Keep in mind that your resume IS NOT an entrance to heaven, a better life, fame and fortune -- but rather a clear, concise and perfectly formatted over view of who you are, what you have done, where you have done it and when it was done.

Make your resume stand out so that you can get an interview.
It's the first step - do not make it the last!
